Meet Your Dentist in Chapel Hill: James P. Furgurson, D.D.S.

Dr. Furgurson is a complex restorative and cosmetic dentist who emphasizes listening to his patients and helping them achieve whatever their dental goals may be.

A native of Plymouth, NC, Dr. Furgurson has lived in the triangle for 25 years and is happy to call Chapel Hill home. He is an honors graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of NC State University with B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Biotechnology, and a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.

Dr. Furgurson is a dedicated student of the profession and has completed more than 100 hours of advanced training each year since 2009.  He holds Fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, as well as a Resnik Implant Institute Fellowship.  In 2019 Dr. Furgurson was asked to join the faculty of the Clinical Mastery Series based in Dallas, TX.  Through this position, he is able to share his vast knowledge and mentor younger dentists.  Dr. Furgurson is a member of the following organizations.

In his spare time, Dr. Furgurson enjoys the outdoors, golf, and especially spending time with his wife Lynn, sons Clay and Jack, and their dogs Ollie and Bernice. Meet Your Dentist in Chapel Hill: Nathan O. White, D.D.S.

Dr. Nathan White is a family and cosmetic dentist who strives to provide excellent conservative dental care using evidence-based dentistry.

Originally from Greenville, NC, Dr. White came to Chapel Hill to attend UNC.  Dr. White obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors (2004), Doctor of Dental Surgery with Honors (2008), and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program (2009). He likes to joke that UNC couldn’t get rid of him, as he pursued all of his studies at UNC-CH.  He also holds an appointment as an adjunct associate professor at the UNC School of Dentistry.

Dr. White enjoys traveling and has provided dental care as part of an externship in Adelaide, Australia, as well as a mission trip to Belize, Central America.  He has attended numerous continuing education courses on cosmetic and functional dentistry, notably those by Clinical Mastery Series, the Hornbrook Group, and Spear Education.  He is also a member of a local Spear Study Club with other dentists and specialists in the Triangle.

Aside from dentistry, Dr. White loves music, food, UNC Basketball, and spending time with his wife Annie and their two sons.  He currently lives in Chapel Hill.
