Many of our patients have dental insurance and we are familiar with nearly all carriers. We do not participate in any managed care networks, however, we can still provide you with dental care, handle your insurance paperwork, and help you maximize your dental insurance benefits.
As a courtesy, we will file your dental claims on your behalf to ensure that you are reimbursed directly by your insurance carrier
Dental Insurance FAQs
If you aren’t a network provider for my insurance plan, can I still see you as my dentist?
Yes. Dr. Furgurson’s commitment to patients is to provide the highest quality dental care and customer service. We work with insurance companies as a non-participating or out-of-network provider.
Will I be able to use my dental insurance benefit if I come to your office?
Yes. As an out-of-network provider, we still handle all of your insurance paperwork. We typically file a claim with your dental insurance carrier on the same day you are seen by our office. . Reimbursement is typically received within 10 days to 3 weeks.
What will I pay at the time of my visit? We require that you pay in full or set up dental care financing for your treatment cost at the time of your visit or procedure. We accept the payment options listed above and can provide an estimate of this cost ahead of time.
Does this mean that your office is more expensive than someone “in-network”?
Dentists who participate in dental insurance networks agree to accept a lower fee for their services in order to be a “participating provider”. We find this forces dentists to see a higher volume of patients and consequently spend less time with their patients.
To us, quality and care are two of the most important pillars of our practice. Dr. Furgurson feels strongly about being able to spend time with his patients. We also feel it is important to hire well qualified professionals, use the best materials, and work with the top U.S. dental laboratories.
What is a “usual and customary” rate?
A usual and customary rate, sometimes called a reasonable rate, is an elusive term used by insurance companies to define the average or median cost of services. The problem is that each insurance company has its own method for determining these rates and they rarely represent a true “average” market cost for goods and services. There are many things that go into the cost of medical and dental services that are often not factored into an insurance company’s “UCR” formula such as:
